Stories aren’t posts
On TikTok, a Story shows up as a coloured ring around someone’s profile picture. Tap it, it plays, and 24 hours later it disappears. It never lands in their grid. You can’t pin it. TikTok doesn’t keep a public archive either. People use stories for the stuff they don’t want hanging around: a “we’re live in 10 minutes” note, a messy kitchen behind the scenes, a promo code that’s dead by Friday.
Under the hood, though, each story still has a normal TikTok ID and a normal link. That’s the whole trick. SnapTikTok reads it exactly like a video, so long as it’s public and the 24 hours aren’t up.
The clock matters
We don’t stockpile stories in the background. Nothing is fetched until you paste. So when you spot a story worth keeping, copy its link on the spot; even if you only get round to downloading it in the evening, at least you’ll have it. Once the story expires, that link goes dead with it.
Stories vs. regular videos
| Story | Regular video | |
|---|---|---|
| Lifetime | 24 hours | Until deleted |
| Shows in profile grid | No | Yes |
| Can be downloaded here | While live and public | Any time while public |
Want a normal post instead? The main TikTok video downloader is built for that. Story turned out to be a stack of photos? The slideshow downloader goes into photo posts properly.
Respect the 24 hours
Somebody chose to make it temporary. Keeping it on your phone is your business. Reposting it is theirs, so ask, and credit them if they say yes.
